The Gecko is a 46' Custom Built Carolina Sport Fisher. It is a tried and true "fish-catching-machine" with powerful twin engine diesels and a Carolina flared hull for a dry ride. Fishing out of Ocracoke you will spend less time boat riding and more time actually fishing. Relax in our comfortable salon or ride on the bridge as Gecko speeds offshore to catch yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, blackfin tuna, wahoo, mahi, sailfish and white marlin. You might even get your chance of a lifetime by hooking up with the boss of the offshore waters, a magnificent blue marlin.

Gecko is fully equipped for Ocracoke waters with latest tackle, electronics and safety gear including: GPS, Radar, Loran, Fishfinders, VHF Radios, Epirbs, etc. While fishing on the Gecko you will not need to purchase a fishing license because we supply that with our blanket charter fishing license.

Guests aboard the Gecko are provided with everything they will need for a successful fishing trip. We supply the boat, tackle, fresh bait and license. But, don't forget to bring your own drinks and snacks. Read more about the details here on our Contact/FAQ page.

The Gecko provides full day offshore sportfishing trips out of Ocracoke. The waters off Ocracoke are well known by enthusiasts for its wide diversity of available of big game species. Gecko Sportfishing additionally offers 3/4 day trips, wreck fishing, inshore and near shore trips and we have alternate more affordable full and half day opportunities on our 26' boat named Drumrunner.

We welcome all anglers from the seasoned veteran to the non-experienced novice. We cater our trips to the needs of the individual charter group. You do not need to be experienced to enjoy a family friendly day of catching fish on the Gecko!

    Captain Ernest Doshier

    Gecko Sportfishing owner Captain Ernest Doshier was raised in Dare County and has lived and fished here all his life! Ernie is US Coast Guard Licensed Captain. He is a member of the Charter Boat Association and has served with the US Coast Guard for 3 1/2 years. He has a lifetime of fishing experience on the Outer Banks and has been chartering the Gecko for nearly 30 years. He is very skilled at producing fish for offshore anglers. He also enjoys teaching inexperienced anglers all about Ocracoke Island fishing and the wonders of the Gulf Stream.
